Abstract: The digital earth is a new concept which is reported by the media and is concentrated by the fields of intelligence and science in China from 1998 to 1999.Based on summarizing many documents and the ideas of many experts,the paper reviewed the background of the digital earth ,connotation of it鈥檚 concept,supporting technology and it鈥檚 application.Moreover,the inevitability,feasibility and the strategy of developing Chinese digital earth are introduced.The paper presented some problems which should be solved during the period of developing Chinese digital earth.
